About the 1769-ECR
The 1769-ECR is used with Allen Bradley’s 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. Installed after the last module, the purpose of the module is to terminate the communication bus, signaling end of the end point. The 1769-ECR is similar to a terminating resistor. The terminating resistor consumes the signals, in the form of voltages, present in the communication bus. Similarly, the 1769-ECL establishes Processor communication and allows the controller to identify the end of the chassis by consuming the signals present after the last module of the chassis thus, terminating the communication bus. The 1769-ECR electrostatic sensitive device as it contains electronic components installed on a PCB board housed by the component. Before installing, touch a grounded object to discharge static potential, or wear a wrist strap. Avoid touching the conductors and electronic components while in the process of insertion. Store the component in a static safe location and work on a static safe station. The 1769-ECR is installed on the right side of the chassis. To the right of the PLC CPU, locate the last module of the chassis. Slide the component from the top aligned with the last module. Switch the bus lever to establish connection to the bus. If restriction is felt, verify alignment of the component and ensure each of the contacts are not deformed. Hot-swap feature is not supported by this module. Do not attempt to install and uninstall the component on a powered or functioning system. Performing this may render the system unresponsive, switch to an uncontrollable state or completely shut down. The module’s dimension is 3.35 Inches wide, 4.65 inches long and depth of 0.71 inches.
