About the 1769-IF16C
The 1769-IF16C is used with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module is able to accommodate 16 single ended current inputs configurable for 0-20mA or 4-20 mA with full ranges of 0-21 mA and 3.2 - 21 mA respectively. The module has a built in Analog to digital (ADC) circuit to convert the analog input to digital signal for processing. The processed data can be configured as engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range and raw data. The 1769-IF16C is configured using RSLogix 500 (for MicroLogix 1500), RSLogix5000 or Studio 5000 (for CompactLogix) programming software. Each channel is individually configured to receive whether 0-20 or 4-20 mA. Process alarms can also be configured by defining the module’s high and low alarm parameters. Other configurable parameters are input filters, real time sampling, alarm deadband and others. All enabled channels have open-circuit detection that activates the under-range error bit of the module. This event can be made known to the controller and display a non-fatal system error. There is no limit with the installation of the 1769-IF16C module as long as the power supply output is sufficient to supply the bus. The module can be installed within 8 modules from the power supply. It can be inserted to any adjacent I/O module including the controller in the chassis. Install the module by locating the guide slots of the adjacent module. Slide the module and establish alignment of the bus connectors. Once bus connectors are aligned, move the bus lever to the left until a clicking sound is created.
