About the 1769-IF8
The 1769-IF8 is used with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module has Eight (8) input channels, each configurable to receive current and voltage signals. Configurable current signals are 0-20 mA and 4-20mA with full ranges of 0-21 mA and 3.2 - 21 mA. Configurable voltage signals available are +/10VDC, 1-5VDC, 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC with full ranges of +/- 10.5 VDC, 0.5 - 5.25 VDC, -0.5 - +5.25VDC, -0.5 - +10.5VDC respectively. The module can also be used with a MicroLogix 1500 controller as long as the module is installed on a 1769 CompactLogix I/O bank. The Analog module has an Analog to Digital (ADC) circuit that converts the analog data to store digitally and made available for any compatible Logix processor. The data processed can be configured in the programming software as engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range and raw data. Configure the 1769-IF8 with RSLogix 500, RSLogix5000 or Studio 5000 programming software. Individual channel configuration can be performed such as selection of input signal type, setting of process alarms, input filters, real time sampling, time stamping, alarm deadband and other parameters. The module can detect an open circuit that is automatically activated once a channel is activated. The power supply distance rating of 1769-IF8 is 8 modules. This means the module cannot be installed more than 8 modules away from the power supply. There is no limit to the number of modules that can be used as long as the distance rating is observed. The module can be inserted to any adjacent I/O module including the controller in the chassis.
