About the 1769-OB8
The 1769-OB8 is used with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module has Eight (8) 24VDC output channels for use with high-current DC loads. The module has Two (2) output groups, with Four (4) points per group. Each channels are capable of 2 mA rated outputs. The channel groups are isolated and operate on a sourcing output configuration. The module comes with a 1769-RTBN18 removable terminal block for modularity. Connect the +DC of the signal device to the +VDC and the -DC to the DC COM terminal of the module. Do not use the NC terminal as connection points. Output modules have built-in protection for surge suppression and voltage transients. An external transient and suppression protection can be installed to protect the module from damage. Prevent leakage current by connecting in parallel a 5.6 k?, ½ W resistor. The 1769-OB8 is configurable with RSLogix 500, RSLogix5000 or Studio 5000 programming software. The module’s configurable parameters such as module inhibition, packet interval, slot assignment and revision number provide a convenient way to fine tune the operation of the module. Further parameterization can be done by accessing the module’s input data files. The data files store the status of the input addresses as well as module diagnostics. Install the output module not more than Eight (8) modules away from the power supply. The module can be inserted to any adjacent I/O module including the controller in the chassis. Mount the module on a 35 X 75 or 35 X 15 mm DIN rail. When installing the module, remove power from the backplane by turning off the power supply as electric arcs may occur during the locking of bus levers. Implement grounding by connecting the mounting surface to a grounding bar or a grounded metal panel.
